Every opening I have been fortunate enough to attend has been nothing short of magical, with each providing a unique and moving experience.
However, I have to say this one particularly touched my heart. It was the first opening I was able to share with some of my dearest friends who have all been such a tremendous support from the beginning of the Foundation's beginnings. We sadly missed one of the families who contributed at the opening but they were definitely there in spirit!
I think what brought me such joy was seeing the faces of all my friends and their children when they saw the pure gratitude etched over every community member when we pulled up to the school. It was nothing short of overwhelming and I think it is fair to say, there wasn't a pair of dry eyes between us.
Marc, Yem and the other Child's Dreams team took such wonderful care of us as per usual - organising the day with the community perfectly.
One of the donor's brought with them a skipping rope to give to the school. It was such a brilliant idea. As you can see in the photo below - the students all took great delight in learning to jump-rope for the first time. Our kids doing a fantastic job in showing them. Such a simple thing.. yet it resulted in such a powerful connection between two sets of children from different worlds, yet with a lot of similarities. Boundaries were broken down instantaneously.
I feel thankful every day for the support we have had in growing this Foundation and take great delight in being able to share it with every donor. Thank you to those who supported and travelled such a long way to this school. I hope you all found it as magical as we did!
